CDC aspires to being part of the structure of Diabetes UK, in being able to give advice about specialised community problems, but does not want to be part of the governance structure. It is proposed that if a member of CDC is an elected member of PAC of Diabetes UK, then they should provide representation; however if there is no elected member, then a non- voting member should be co-opted to PAC. It should develop methods of best practice, position statements, either on its own or in conjunction with Diabetes UK. It would be represented at meetings such as with the Royal College, in its own right, which would be encouraged by Diabetes UK.
